Well it’s April already. It feels like only yesterday we were writing our post about your vaping new year’s resolution, and here we are, a third of the way through the year already.

If you’re feeling like your resolution is flagging and you’re drifting back towards tobacco, maybe it’s time to get involved with VApril.

VApril is a movement going on all through the month of April, fronted by Channel 4’s very own Dr. Christian Jessen and organised by the UK Vaping Industry Association. Dr. Jessen probably needs no introduction, but the UKVIA is an advocacy group for the vaping industry in all its forms.

Okay, so what does that all mean for you? Well, the VApril movement is most associated with the VApril Challenge. The Challenge is a three-step plan to get those who want to quit tobacco but just haven’t found the means, to get involved in the vaping community.

Step 1: Drop into a vaping masterclass

VApril has partnered with vape stores in 11 cities across the UK to provide ‘vaping masterclasses’. These masterclasses are broad introductions to vaping, meant to acquaint people with the range of devices and flavours available on the market.

They’re also excellent opportunities to meet up with others in the vaping community. Local vape shop owners and employees are some of the most informed people in the vaping world today—so take advantage of their expertise to help you get back on the path to good health!

Step 2: Receive your free 6-page guide

The UKVIA has also produced a guide specifically suited to first-time vapers. It’s called Vape to break the smoking habit and it provides a lot of the information that you need to get up and running with your first vaping device.

This includes information on the various nicotine strengths available, the different components that make up a vaping device, and the best ways to transition from being a smoker to a vaper.

If you can’t make it out to one of the participating vape stores, VApril has also made the 6-page guide available online.

Step 3: Be social

VApril isn’t just a real-life experience. They’ve also set up spaces online for people to meet and discuss vaping and e-cigarettes in general. Make sure to head over to the VApril Facebook page or to VApril Twitter to join the conversation.

And make sure to use the #VApril and #VAprilChallenge hashtags to make sure that your voice gets heard!

Why to switch

Making the switch to vaping from tobacco is one of the best choices you can make for your health and the health of those around you in 2018. According to recent evidence from Public Health England, vaping is effectively 95% healthier than smoking tobacco; and Cancer Research UK found in 2017 that those who made the switch to vaping had 97% lower levels of cancer-associated chemicals in their bodies than smokers did.

Which, even if you’re good with being the owner of a toxic body, vaping is still less than half the cost of tobacco, on average. We’ve already proven that if you dropped cigarettes today and made the switch to vaping, you’d wind up saving thousands of pounds each year.

So head on down to your local vape store, meet the community, and get involved. Stoptober is still a long way off.
